TikTok has decided to take action against users’ tendency to lose track of time while using the platform. Users have reported spending hours “scrolling” on the app, leading the Chinese giant to launch new features such as alerts to encourage users to go to sleep. The platform aims to improve its reputation by developing moderation tools, including a “sleep reminders” feature that allows users to set their bedtime and receive alerts when it’s time to close the app. To further promote better sleep, TikTok will also pause notifications for seven hours. This feature is currently being tested with a small group of users worldwide, and no official release date has been announced.
